Merry Christmas

Just popped in to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a super New Year.

Personally this year has been a very emotional one for me...3 members of my family passed away...including my Mum and Brother in Law....Christmas is going to be hard for me and my Sister but I am looking forward to a brand new year.

I'm planning some changes here on my blog....a new look and a new style maybe.  I've been doing a lot of new stash buying which I hope will reflect the changes.

Anyway....have a super happy holiday with your loved ones...hug them all that little bit closer..
See you in the New Year and take good care if you're travelling in this dreadful weather.

Sweet Things...

Hello....its a dark and dank day here in my part of Kent...boy..its really 'ugh' out there...so I'm sharing with you a couple of cards I made with some of my new stash from Clearly Besotted which arrived yesterday...super customer service...I only ordered them on Monday.....

For these cards I used the Tasty Treats stamp set and matching dies.....

I just love these little strawberries....

I had chocolate on my mind with this one.....lol.....

I 'sugared' the cherry with sparkly rock candy so it glitters...but you cant see it in the pic :-(

Thank you for stopping by and leaving your lovely comments, I am changing my style a bit these days and to receive such positive words from you lovely fellow crafters, I feel that I'm getting it right...mwah!!!

Ok...I'm off to have a nice latte and then some more crafting...
Have a lovely day

Two for the Boys....

Hi...today I have three cards to share...now I don't make that many cards for 'the boys' that often...if at all really to be honest, but my first ever order arrived from SSS arrived on Saturday (being doing a happy dance since...lol...I waited long enough for it!!!..) I just had to have a play with these cute little SSS Small Plane dies....I have no idea why they jumped into my basket...but I'm so pleased they did...

As I'm new to this CAS malarkey....it took me a while to get a grip of what I had in mind for them although the outcome is such a simple card...my first thought was a grey plane in contrast DP..but then in a light bulb moment I thought of a 'pop' of red which I think made all the difference .  Then I remembered I had the Cloud dies from Memory Box lurking in my stash..they were bought on a whim a while back and haven't seen the light of day since...until now.  The sentiment is by Clearly Besotted
(another passionate affair...more about that later).  I layered it all up with 3D pads, added Twine and a tiny red gem for balance.

Next!....

This time I used SSS Pointed Feathers die...I'm just love these...you'll be seeing these very often I think...lol....I cut them from SU DP's ..thought the grey was a good idea for a masculine card and again kept it simple...twine, button,  Clearly Besotted sentiment again...and....sequins????? ( well they are grey/silver...lol...)  they just finished it off nicely I thought...

I'm having a quiet day today...I hope to be playing with a pile of new Stamps and Dies from
....if Mr Postie pays a visit today...I'll share the results tomorrow but in the meantime here's something I made earlier...

For this I used their Geometric Style Stamps and Dies...I embossed the design in white on Kraft cardstock and cut out a few to make a 'snowflake' (well that was my first thought...lol..) I scored a few lines on the backing card and just finished with Twine, a button, a Christmas sentiment and a couple of pearls....

Have a great day!!

Addicted to CAS

Hi....hope you all had a great weekend...mine was nice and quiet...a bit of crafting on Saturday and a nice Sunday Lunch out ....Ollie got a walk through the local woods....(we don't go there very often..not after a neighbours dog was savaged a while ago by a larger dog off the lead..I don't think the police ever found the owner.. the poor little dog died...it was very shocking at the time and I haven't taken Ollie through there by myself since...)...

Anyway...I have a card for this weeks Addicted to CAS Challenge - Pets.

I finally received my first order from Simon Says Stamp on Saturday and had to use this little sweetie straight away.!!!  I coloured the image with pencils and cut it out and then just layered with a piece of DP.  Finished with some twine a button and a few sequins.

Do pop over and check out the DT creations...so cute!

Thank you all for your kind comments...they are so appreciated,
Have a great day

Less is More Challenge...

Hi Guys...I'm back with a card for this weeks Less is More Challenge...this time they are giving us a chance to catch up with our Christmas cards but would like us to use a bird...ummm...well you cant miss mine...lol....

I wasn't sure if a Penguin was classed as a bird...but hey!....this sweet penguin is by Clearly Besotted...I just love that he comes with his hat and scarf...I used the matching dies to cut him and his red felt hat out.  I cut a circle and stamped the little snowflakes that comes with the set and I embossed them with sparkly clear powder.  I then used DI's all over the circle.  I cut a smaller circle to give the impression of a snow hill and embossed that too and added some clear Rock candy for extra sparkle. I used a little of glossy accents on his beak and then I used 3D pads on all the bits so there is lots of dimension.

I hope you have a super Sunday

CAS-ual Fridays

Hello....Happy Saturday!!..hope you are all well and fine.....its a bright but chilly day here in my part of Kent..I have a few chores to do today...but hope to be crafting away later....

Anyway, I have a card for this weeks CAS-ual Fridays Challenge

...Create with 8! ...

its a new challenge to me...I've been hopping around to find some CAS challenges for my 'new look' ...lol...

Here's my card.....

Inspired by the leaves lying around in my garden - 8 leaves.  I used Clearly Besotted Leafy Accents clear stamps with matching dies....I stamped one leaf design in shades of Autumn and then two leaves in gold for a bit of shimmer to the card...unfortunately the camera didn't pick that up :-(...I cut them out using the die. I wanted a bit of texture to the backing card so i simply scored a few lines across
corner to corner and the arranged the leaves using 3D pads for dimension...the sentiment is from SU.
I finished with a couple of pearls..

Right I'm off for my appointment with the chores...I'll catch you later..
Thanks for stopping by

Round in Circles....

Hello everyone...hope you're keeping nice and warm on this chilly Tuesday..I'm staying put...and having a play with some new stamps...

Now todays card is for two challenges - CAS on Sunday - One Layer Wonder and Uniko Studio - Christmas or Holiday Theme....I was inspired by Amy's card here...

This is my card...

I used my new Uniko Studio stamps called Round in Circles and stamped in VersaMagic inks....shades of Aqua...and the tiny stars are from a Clearly Besotted stamp set.  I do realise that I have gone totally overboard with the sequins but you have to have sparkle at christmas, Right?

I do hope you'll pop over to the challenges and check out the DT's creations.

I'll be back with more to share soon.
Have a great day..

More Less is More....

Hello...Happy Saturday to you all...I hope you have some lovely plans for the weekend...me?...I'm having a Pyjama day!..I have my fluffiest, cosiest PJ's on and going to stay in the warm and craft...

Well today is the day for this weeks Less is More Challenge.  Its Theme week and they would like you to use some DP paper on your card but keep to the CAS look...here's my card...

A simple card which appears to be my style lately.  Using a circle die I cut the 'hole' in the top piece of cardstock and a circle from the DP which is from the DCWV Twinkle Glints stack (and boy it twinkles..lol). Then I tied a length of Hemp Twine through the 'hole' and knotted at the back.  Then I adhered the top piece to the card base using 3D pads and then glued the DP circle on to the card base through the 'hole'.  I finished with a simple sentiment, a bow of Hemp Twine and some gems for more twinkle...

I made this one first but wasn't happy with the red bit on the sentiment....

I couldn't make another as that was the very last piece of gold thread I have...lol....

I hope you will pop over to Les is More and check out Chrissies and Jens creations...truly gorgeous.

I've been hopping around some super blogs this week getting amazing inspiration and ideas from all you very talent crafters out there...I hope to be back with some cards to share from the ideas I have picked up.

Have a great weekend!

Simply Christmas

Hello...how are you all?....hope you had a great weekend.  I have a little card to share with you today...just a simple one for this months Clearly Besotted Challenge - Christmas.

I used Clearly Besotted Signature Christmas stamps and dies.  I used the die to cut out the wreath shape and stamped the wreath on the cardstock below, then I stamped and cut out the bow and used a 3D pad to place it.  I glittered the wreath and stamped the Sentiment using red ink.

Do go and check out the DT gorgeous creations...I've been stalking their blogs...lol...
Have a lovely evening

the colours in the pic is a bit bright IRL they are quite pastel....I used a new stamp set from Uniko I bought it before I went away and it was waiting for me when I got back.  I used Momento Dew Drop inks and randomly stamped three images over a masked base card..added a couple of sequins for a bit of sparkle...and a sentiment from Clearly Besotted...

I hope you like it....Thanks for stopping by...

Yay!!...

Happy Saturday!!!...although its a very wet and miserable day here in my part of Kent I'm doing a happy dance as I have just spotted that my card for Allsorts Challenge - Treemendous was picked to be one of the Top Five....yay!!!..thanks so much the Allsorts Team..mwah!

So I just had to join in the Allsorts fun this week...the theme is 'white Christmas....here's my card....

Sorry about the quality of the pic...the light here is pants....anyway...I used a set of Sizzix stamps and dies - Snowflake No. 2.  I didn't use the stamps, just the dies....so I Frantage everything...lol....oh what a mess...I love the look but hate the carnage to clear up afterwards...I cut the snowflakes from white cardstock then stamped a Versamark pad over it sprinkled sticky embossing powder on ..heated that then sprinkled Frantage and heated....I did that to all three die cuts.  then I swiped the pad around the edges of the pearl base card....did the same with the sticky stuff and Frantage..added the sentiment - embossed again - a bit of ribbon..a gem....stuck it on the base card with 3D tape....and voila..a card...lol..
Now I'm off for a lie down after all the mess...oh talking of a lie down....here's Ollie having a nap this afternoon....

Upside down and he was snoring...lol....

Have a great evening

Hello....

Yes...hello I'm back from my few days away..I had a lovely rest, it was great just to have a change of scene..weather could have been better but hey!!

Well I am totally thrilled to say that while I was away I was Showcased again at Less is More and I must say a huge thank you to Chrissie and Jen for choosing my 'Tree' card...

I'm really chuffed...lol...

Anyway...its a little late but I managed to get into the craft room this afternoon to make a card for this weeks Less is More challenge its a colour challenge with a twist - Dark background with a splash of colour/s...Here's my card...

I used a Memory Box die and cut it in black..I attached it to the blank card just in the middle as I wanted the empty petals to stand out  I then cut the same die using rainbow colours and placed as petals.  I finished with a simple sentiment and some gems.

Have a great evening...

and...Another...

This is another card I made for this weeks Allsorts Challenge - Treemendous

I stamped white cardstock with a tiny 'snow' stamp with versamark then embossed with sparkly powder. then rubbed over DI in tumbled glass and Iced Spruced..I used my new Obsession Impression Tree die which I snipped a bit and the cut another to make now slopes snipping a few trees off.  I then glittered the large tree at the from and the edge of the snow slopes.  I finished with a slither of vellum stamped with the sentiment....

See you all in a week

A bit of a Making Fest....

Hi guys...well while the weather was giving it all yesterday I stayed tucked up in the craft room having a good old play...

I wasn't overly happy with my card for this weeks Less is More theme challenge - String or Twine..so I made another....

I had forgotten about this very lush Penny Black 'Starlit' tree stamp...so...I stamped it with Versamark then embossed it with white detail powder...wrapped around three lengths of 'True Hemp' twine in black grey and white.  The tiny sentiment tag is SU and I punched a silver one and made a spotty one to match the tree.  OK the twine isn't very imaginative but its finishes the card nicely....

While I was on a roll...lol... I thought I would make a card for this week Allsorts Challenge - Treemendous -

Now I always wanted to try this ...using a die to cut the aperture and then mounting over a piece of DP....the die is a Marianne (I think)..mounted on to a red card and finished with Twine and the tiny tag again.

I then had a play with my new stash from Clearly Besotted....I have seem these Christmas stamps while blog hopping and I have been itching to use them...

Just a nice and simple card....just like this one...

I just used the Clearly Besotted dies for this..so simple but I love it...think this might just be my Christmas cards this year...

So there you have it...the results of a cosy day in the craft room.
I hope you all have a very good week.  I'm popping off for a week to stay with friends to have a change of scene and re charge the old batteries especially after the past few weeks.  Ollie has gone on his holidays too...he is being totally spoilt at my Sisters...and LilyPuss is being looked after here at home....she's is thoroughly enjoying being Top Cat again while Ollies not around...lol...

So bye for now

Fraying at the Seams....

Hi Guys...oh what a week!!...BIL funeral was on Monday which was very well attended ....apart from me...well thanks to that great car park commonly known as the M25...I was late...well and truly late...my sister understood as it was she who forewarned me about the hold ups....anyway I got there for the last 5mins...and I had to make an entrance...how embarrassing...but I did it as it had to be done...it was a lovely service (apparently) ....

....the week went on as it started....I have had a huge problem with my left eye....I could see 'debris' floating around together with flashing lights!!..very scary...I saw my GP who made an emergency referral to the eye dept at the hospital...she said I would hear from them within 24hrs...(I saw her Monday evening)...Wednesday, still nothing so I called the hospital who wouldn't speak to me as they only dealt with the referring Doctor..I phoned doctor who was very surprised....but it would have been helpful had her secretary sent the fax!!!!!.....grrrrrr.....anyway to cut a long and very frustrating story short..I took matters into my own hands and went to the A&E dept yesterday and they managed to get me an appointment at the eye clinic for the afternoon...the appointment was for 3.15pm.  after a 4 hour wait (grrrrrrr) I was finally examined and was told I didn't have a torn retina.. all was fine...just an ageing process.....so yes its official I'm fraying at the seams....

Now...over at Less is More this week its a 'theme' challenge they want you to use String or Twine....here's my card...

inspired by Chrissie's twine flowers...I covered a circle of card with double sided tape and carefully swirled hemp string into a circle.  The stem is from a Memory Box flower die I trimmed a bit to accommodate the 'flower head'...then just matted and added a sentiment and a pearl or two.

Hope you all have a fab weekend...and lets hope that the promised storm will only be in a teacup!!!..lol..
Happy Crafting

***Oh I almost forgot....the total highlight of my week was to be 'Showcased' by Less is More for my Witchy card...I am so thrilled...thank you Chrissie and Jen for making a horrible week end with a happy dance...lol....xxxxxxx***

Merry Christmas......

...its ok I haven't quite lost the plot...lol....I know we are still in October....but it is only approx 12 weeks to the big day...ugh!!....Sorry but I don't get that excited about Christmas..it just seems an awful lot of hard work just for a couple of days...ok yes its nice to see family (ours will be missing three this Christmas) and friends...but there is just too much hype before hand...my great nephew has started writing his Christmas list to Santa already!!!!.......

Anyway....back to what I'm here for...lol....here is my card for this weeks Less is More Challenge - Trees...

I love trees...and tree stamps are just perfect for CAS cards....but I haven't used one for this ..I use a Dee's Distinctively Die.   First I mixed a few DI's in shades of green over white card. then I used a tiny SU stamp of leaves and a pine cone and stamped in dark green all over.  Then I used the die and layered up the pieces.  The 'trunk' is a piece of Wassi tape and the sentiment is stamped in red and I finished with a couple of red gems.

Do pop over to check out Chrissie's and Jens creations..truly inspirational.
Happy Crafting!!

A Little Tilda....

Hello..Happy Saturday to you... Firstly I have to say thank you for all your kind words regarding my BIL....it means so much...

Well.....its not a very nice day here in my part of Kent...very wet and dull...a perfect day to hide in the craft room and make....lol...

I have a Sweet Tilda for you today...a very different look...

Yes she is VERY CAS......she is stamped on watercolour paper and I coloured her with DI pens...I haven't been colouring for a while and I just wanted to do something simple so I just matted with colour co ordinating cardstock and added a couple of pearls...not too sure about the placement of the sentiment...but hey!...Have to say it was a bit weird not to get the ribbons and flowers out, but its nice just to concentrate on the image.  I hope you like it.

Less is More....

Hello....I have managed to get to my desk today to rustle up a little card for this weeks Less is More Challenge - Witches & Wizards.. it is also one layer week..here's my card..

I used DI's to make the moody moon..lol...but I cant tell what stamp I used as I have thrown away the packet!! Doh!! but I used Versafine ink.

Its been a sad week again here I'm afraid. My brother in law Bruce died suddenly last Tuesday...he was in the garden and my sister found him collapsed...she had only left him for a few moments.  He didn't complain of feeling unwell...nothing.  My sister as you can imagine is distraught so is their only daughter...I've been staying with them but I'm home for a few days now and then will go back on Monday for the funeral.  He and my sister were very involved in their local bowls club and Bruce was well known over the County (Surrey).  My sister has received over 70 cards from people who knew him and it is expected that the funeral will be well attended.

He is the third close member of our family that has died this year. I will be glad to see the back of 2013!!

Anyway...I wish you all a happy Thursday and thank you for stopping by.

Well...Hello There.....

Hello All....yes its been a while...a long while...lol.... but I'm back with a little card for this weeks Less is More Challenge...White on White...White Christmas...

I used a beautiful Memory Box die that I've had for ages but this is the first time I've used it...the background is just a snowy embossing folder and the sentiment is stamped in silver.  I've added tiny gems in different colours to highlight the tree.  (I hope that's allowed!).  Do pop over and check out the DT gorgeous creations....

Well, there's been a lots going on here with me...I had a job..(yay!)....then I didn't have a job...(boo!!)... Mums Probate still on going...just wish it would all hurry up...and I had my craft room redecorated and re fitted....I chose white as I wanted it to feel light and airy.
These pics were taken just after the units were put together...

Now filled stash...not very tidy..I've been making...lol...

I love it now....still needs one more unit with drawers for my Magnolia stamps and then that's it.   Good old Ikea...lol....

I also have been busy in the kitchen this morning....we have a glut of apples so I made some Apple Jam.....its a first for me and I'm really pleased how its turned out....think toffee apples with a hint of spice...its really yummy...

Yummy on crumpets....lol...

Anyway...I have to get on...I have a craft fair next Saturday so lots of Christmas cards to make...

Gone Back....

Hello guys..happy Monday!! the sun is still shining here and its just fab......

Today I have something completely different for me....well perhaps not really....when I left school many moons ago my dream was to go on to art college..I went to an all girls school where the brighter girls were encouraged to go to Uni and study law and the lower achievers were force to do shorthand and typing which would ease them into office jobs...me?..I was lazy...just wanted to draw and paint...I liked history and geography...language's?..no chance...lol...Maths scared me..(still does)..and as for sports...well...my mum always said that I wouldn't run even if my bum was on fire!!!..lol....

.Our Art room at school was in an old cricket pavilion at the far end of the sports field and I would sneak off there whenever I could to work on my latest art project...I wasn't good at drawing unless I copied but I loved colour and shapes and I was in my element with all the psychedelic stuff going on around me (this was late '60's).  I found a passion for screen printing and was luckily encouraged by my art teachers to interpret any of my projects in this direction and I chose to do my O level exams with this in mind....I really would have loved to go into fabric design but my parents had other ideas and when I left school they wanted me to get a nice safe office job....I did manage to do something a bit more creative and became a window dresser...but that's another story.

I haven't sat and doodled for years let alone get the paints out and have a splosh about but I channelled my artiness into card making as you have seen...but for a while now I have been drooling over some mixed media blogs and books and I really want to do a course..I'm not sure I still have it in me but I feel I wont know unless I try...so I'm looking around for a course to do in my area...but in the meantime I had a play over the weekend.....and here is some original art work by me...its not overly mixed media but its a start albeit a tiny one....

I doodled freehand with just a pencil the design on watercolour card....then coloured with DI pens..then I misted with water and let the colours run a bit then dabbed with a paper towel...when dried I went over the pencil lines with a fine black pen..then I used the DI pens again to enhance the colours more then used a white pen over the lines here and there and added more doodles....

You know what?...I am so pleased with it..(if I say so myself) all my own work....I feel I've gone back to my first arty love...and I'm not going to give it up again....

Have a lovely day...
hugs

Hello....happy Saturday!!!...its going to be a scorcher..I'm off to the hairdressers in a mo to have me roots done..lol...and then I'll be back to laze in garden for a while....so I just popped in to share a Tag with you that I made this week...I must have had the sunshine in mind when I got inky with this....

I'm really getting into inky projects at the moment..but I think I'm not adventurous enough yet...I seem to keep it simple... so I'm going to try to find some workshops to attend to broaden my style...

Anyway...Have a great weekend...

Mmmmmmmm.......

.....Aren't they lovely...Lilies....my very favourite flowers.....

I bought a large bunch as I wanted the house to be filled with fragrance for Mums funeral  which was  on Thursday...these were her favourites too....we had a lovely simple service with her favourite music...I just hope she approved.  The family came back here for refreshments and I know she would have loved having us all together and enjoyed catching up with everyone.

She had some beautiful arrangements and this peony was in one of them...I had to bring it home as its so gorgeous...

it's huge...about 6" and so fragrant the house smells like a florist at the moment..its a good job I don't get hay fever...lol...

Anyway...after a very sad day on Thursday...I had a nice quiet day yesterday in the craft room...

I've had these PaperArtsy Jofy stamps for ages and I was feeling in an inky kind of mood so out came the  DI's and pens and had a play...as they are quite small it didn't take long to rustle up a little collection...I'm thinking of framing them altogether.

I doodled with a white pen and a gold sparkle pen here and there to give a bit of a arty feel...and added glossy accents on everything that is coloured red....

This one is my favourite

simple...

But I just love these quirky birds too...

so cute....

...I'm planning some more time in the craft room  today....with the patio doors wide open to enjoy the sun ....Hope you all have a lovely weekend and enjoy your BBQ's later..lol...
